Life From Here

Pam, the amazing writer behind Bloodsigns, is once again hosting her “Life From Here” blog hop. She lives in the Frozen North and has the gorgeous photos to prove it.

I can’t top this:

I mean, how fabulous is that?

Here are some images of what life is like here, and apologies for the Instagrams. Our camera’s battery needs to be replaced, but the grainy, blurry pictures seem about right. It’s January and not very vivid here right now.

Winter staple: Crispy Kale with Farro and Coconut. Big thanks go to Heidi Swanson for the introduction to this tasty treat: here’s the recipe.

I’m investigating canning and preserving the plentiful fruits and vegetables the family grows. Plus, I love Smitten Kitchen.

Trying to get the kids outside is a battle. We’re all still sick, although my lung problems are improving. Yay!

  1. So envious of the uncluttered kids’ spaces! We got rid of a ton of stuff when we moved,.., but then received a ton more after resettling. That kale looks delish – from your garden?

  3. I would love to learn how to can things! Its on my to-do list — along with a vegetable garden and chickens (hah…see how the dog likes that) … but I am not completely sure of my own skills…I’m going to be so interested to follow your journey!

I do love seeing snippets of people’s lives and regions — it’s so interesting to me because we get a verbal picture with the blog…and then pictures that may go with the post — but rarely, unless its a photo blog, do we get photos that encapsulate how we think of our spaces/the spaces we value.

I envy your housekeeping skills — I remember your series of posts about keeping things tidy and lovely. Envious!

I really enjoy your blog — it’s like an oasis somehow … your tone is really thoughtful and lovely, and at its core, honest.

  4. Wow, even I’m interested in that chars recipe and I HATE chard…

I’m jealous of your clutter free living. I just packed up a box of Isa’s toys for storage and her room still perpetually looks like a bomb went off. I don’t think my house will EVER look as svelte as yours does though. ūüėČ

  5. “New Year, Less Clutter” needs to be my new motto. I hope you won’t claim copyright infringement if I start muttering that to myself until my house gets clean (hopefully by magical gnomes in the night)!

  6. I’d love to get into canning; I’m excited to read about your adventures with it!

We’re decluttering here as well. Unfortunately, it’s mostly emptying out the closets and cabinets, so it doesn’t *look* like much is going on. Yours looks great!
